I created this site as a place to share my thoughts on things that I’m most passionate about: Music, Guitars, Food and Non-Profit work in my community.
I love to throw music parties and cook for my family and friends, something that I learned from my Great Aunt, Margarite Schuman. My passion for food and music was the inspiration for “Live from Matt’s House”. What started off as a daydream has turned into something that is not only fun, but has given me the desire to meet new people through music, see as many live shows as I can, and play venues that I never thought would be possible. If you would have told me 5 years ago that I would play in places like Organico and El Facon in Costa Rica, The Dolphin Stiker, Portland House of Music and The Music Hall, I would have thought you were crazy.
I grew up for the most part in New Hampshire and I now live in Hampton Falls with my three children. I feel lucky to be living on the Seacoast and working in Portsmouth. When I’m not at work, you can usually find me in flip flops and a tee shirt, either parenting or playing guitar. I’ve only been playing since 2010, but it’s something that I’ve always wanted to do. I grew up in a musical household, with my father playing piano or organ and listening to classical music on vinyl, pretty much non-stop.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of New Hampshire is an organization that’s changed my life. I’ve served on the Board of Directors for the Seacoast Region as well as the State Agency since 2008. Everyday, the people who work at BBBS inspire me with their passion to help children. I believe working with BBBS has helped form who I am and has taught me to give back as much as you can to your community. The reward is priceless.
While BBBS is my primary focus, in the past, I served on the Development Committee of Prescott Park Arts Festival and I’ve ridden in the Pan Mass Challenge 8 times as a member of the Seacoast Young Team.
I enjoy fly fishing, drinking a nice cup of coffee and, when the weather is nice, driving my father’s 1963 Corvette Convertible (which has been in my family since 1965) up and down the Seacoast to unwind. My favorite time of day is the morning, when the house is quiet, the sun is coming up and there is a fire crackling in the fireplace.
